Breaking: Uba Sani Clears Foreign Tuition Backlog for Kaduna Students

In a resounding display of compassion and commitment to education, the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Malam Uba Sani, has successfully cleared the long-standing backlog of tuition fees for Kaduna State’s foreign scholarship beneficiaries—restoring hope to dozens of distressed students across the globe.

Working closely with the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board, led by the Executive Secretary, Professor Yahya Saleh Ibrahim, Governor Uba Sani’s administration has delivered a lifeline to scholars who had been stranded abroad due to unpaid tuition fees and stalled academic progress.

Among the rescued students is Hauwa Bashir Liman, an MBBS student at the University of Debrecen, Hungary, who received a full payment of $51,400, enabling her to continue her medical studies without hindrance. Others such as Bashir Al Bashir and Ahmad Abubakar from the University of Wollongong, Dubai, were granted $13,827.08 —covering their tuition and visa fees until graduation.

The government’s intervention also ensured that Salisu Shehu Ramin Kura, King Henry Ishaya, and seven other returnees who previously faced uncertainties were fully settled with tuition of $81,135.76, and received one-year stipends to support their studies.

In a landmark move, all outstanding debts for medical doctors and nurses who studied at Islamic University of Uganda and Kampala International University were fully cleared. This has enabled the graduates to commence their housemanship across top teaching hospitals in Kaduna, Kano, Plateau, Jigawa, and Borno states.

Despite lean resources inherited by his administration, Governor Uba Sani has shown remarkable leadership by investing massively in human capital development. Over 3,930 local students have received scholarships in tertiary institutions such as Kaduna State University (KASU), ABU Zaria, BUK, Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, and GSU, with N270 million disbursed.

In the coming days, another 500 students at KASU will benefit from scholarships—part of the governor’s strategy to ease financial pressures on parents and ensure no brilliant mind is left behind.

Governor Uba Sani’s bold intervention reaffirms his administration’s inclusive education policy, anchored on equity, access, and empowerment.

“He is not just paying tuition; he is securing the future of Kaduna State, one student at a time”, an Aide to the Governor, Nasir Dambatta told our Correspondent on telephone.
