An Enugu-born industrialist, Chief Stephen Ejiofor Iyida, has extolled the two years of democratic governance in Enugu state under Governor Peter Mbah, describing it as very fruitful and enhancing socio-infrastructural development across the state.
Chief Iyida said Governor Mbah is running a development oriented administration which has put Enugu state among the best in the country.
Speaking with newsmen in Enugu on his assessment of Governor Mbah’s two years in office , the renowned industralist said he is scoring him 100 percent for having performed marvellously beyond expectations.
His words, “I am scoring Governor Peter Mbah 100 percent.He has been doing well. When you go around Enugu state,you can see it for yourself. He is somebody who has a vision beyond what we are looking at. He is the kind of person that can turn Nigeria around.
“When you look at his vision for Smart Green Schools, it is a project that is spread across the 260 wards in Enugu state.The same goes for the Type 2 hospitals and the Enugu state Farm Estates, one per each ward.
“The construction of access roads within Enugu metropolis and other parts of the state is continuing. Apart from that you can see development in all angles.What he has been doing are beyond his promises during campaigns.”
Chief Iyida described Governor Mbah’s style of governance in Enugu state as very unique and replicated in the local government areas,simply for the fact that Governor M ah is very serious with governance
“Presently, most of the local government chairmen in Enugu state are executing projects that will impact meaningfully on the lives of the rural dwellers because Governor Mbah has set the pace for socio economic development of the entire state. I am discussing with my local government chairman (Igbo Eze North)on how to develop an international market in our council area.
“The consciousness for development is also gaining ground.among our rural authorities because the man at the helm of affairs,Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is very keen in transforming Enugu state,” he stated.
On his contribution from the private sector towards the development of the state, Chief Iyida said he is luring investors to invest in Enugu, based on the security and enabling business environment Governor Mbah has enthroned in the state.
He expressed optimism that Governor Mbah will achieve the projected rise of Gross Domestic Product(GDP) of the state from four billion dollars to estimated 30 billlon dollars in the next eight years before the end of his tenure.
Answering question on alleged fear of non-completion of some of the projects started by Governor Mbah if he did not return for a second term, Chief Iyida said such fears do not exist, stating that the good works of Governor Mbah speaks volume and will attract massive support for him in 2027.
His words, “Governor Mbah is doing a fantastic job in Enugu state, on the day of the election, People will vote for him, whether he campaigned or not.”
Chief Stephen Ejiofor Iyida, who is also a custodian of culture in his village Ugwuoji IIsiagwu community in Igbo Eze North local government area disclosed that his philanthropic services include free health care to the rural poor, free motor cycle gifts to some unemployed youths, donation of wheel chairs to the physically challenged, support for community projects, among others.
