FG launches subnational Ease of Doing Business engagement in Plateau

The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has launched its subnational engagement on ease of doing business in Plateau State, holding a technical session and town hall meeting with the organized private sector in Jos.

PEBEC Director General, Princess Zahrah Audu said the visit was to “interface with the businesses understand the peculiarities of doing business in Plateau State” and to bring the subnational government closer to business operators.

She said, “We had a technical session with the Subnational Ease of Doing Business Council, which is chaired by the Secretary of the Government of Plateau State. And then this afternoon we’re having a town hall meeting with all the organised private sectors,” she explained.

The DG further noted that the town hall featured “an interactive panel with members of the Plateau State Government answering questions from businesses on areas of concern for better policies formulation by government.”

“The idea behind the town hall meeting is for us to interface with the businesses. So you can see this afternoon it has been a very impactful engagement with an interactive panel session where members of the Plateau State Government on the panel answering questions from businesses around areas of concern,” Audu said.

She said the engagement was aimed at strengthening the subnational ease of doing business council and ensuring federal policies are implemented at the state level.

“Plateau is the first stage we’ve been to, but we’re going to be going to all the 36 states, just like we did last year when we did the 2025 subnational ease of doing business,” she noted.

Audu said the goal was for Plateau State to review its policies and reforms to make it easier for existing businesses to operate.

“Every state is different, so the private sector are here to share their pain points. The policy makers in the room take this back, review it, and amend it moving forward,” she emphasized.
