South East forum of former LG chairmen endorses Tinubu, vows to work for reelection

The South East Forum of Former Local Government Chairmen has declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and pledged to work towards his reelection in 2027. Led by Dr. Frank Osita, the former chairman of Umunneochi Local Government of Abia State, the group made the declaration during a courtesy visit to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu.

The former local government chairmen, operating across party lines in Abia State, expressed their commitment to mobilizing support for the President across the state. They commended the Deputy Speaker for his legislative imprints and for setting up the Renewed Hope Partners (RHP) to showcase the legacies of the President.

Dr. Osita stated that the forum seeks to harness their collective experiences, influence, and network for the greater good of the region. He emphasized that the group aims to align the South-East with the opportunities embedded in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu through meaningful engagement and partnership with the RHP.

In his remarks, Deputy Speaker Kalu commended the chairmen for their vision in setting up the forum and their support for President Tinubu. He encouraged them to take the forum seriously, noting that their wealth of experience in public service would be invaluable in driving inclusive development, policy alignment, and grassroots advocacy.

Kalu, who also represents Bende Federal Constituency of Abia State, emphasized the importance of collective action in achieving common goals. He stated that the Renewed Hope Partners would partner with the forum to increase support for President Tinubu in the South-East region.

The Deputy Speaker also met with former local government chairmen of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, led by Hon. Chinedu Iboko. He thanked them for looking beyond party lines to support him and expressed his desire to work with them to lift Abia State.

Kalu showcased the former PDP chairmen to President Tinubu, highlighting their grassroots experience and influence. He emphasized the need for collective action to achieve common goals and expressed his commitment to working with the group to deliver development to Abia State.

The meeting between the Deputy Speaker and the former local government chairmen marked a significant step towards building support for President Tinubu’s administration in Abia State. The group’s declaration of support and pledge to work towards the President’s reelection in 2027 is a boost to the administration’s efforts to consolidate its gains and achieve its development objectives.
