In what has been described as a political earthquake in Kaduna State, a political ally of former Vice President Namadi Sambo – Hon. Mohammed Sani Sidi, who was also a former Director General of NEMA and erstwhile PDP aspirant, officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside thousands of his loyal supporters.
The grand reception, held at the Kaduna Trade Fair Complex, was chaired by Governor Uba Sani, who led an array of political heavyweights including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.
“The crowd was electrifying, the symbolism historic, and the message unmistakable — APC is the party of the moment”, said a party stalwart at the event.
Governor Uba Sani, in a stirring address, declared the APC as “the only truly progressive home for all patriots committed to Kaduna’s development.” He assured the new entrants of full integration, promising them equal opportunity and a platform to contribute meaningfully to the party’s growth and the state’s transformation.
“With Sani Sidi and his massive followership onboard, our party has become even stronger. We welcome you with open arms and open hearts,” the governor said.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas hailed the move as a strategic realignment, saying, “This is a major boost not just for APC in Kaduna, but for our national momentum.”
Analysts believe Sani Sidi’s defection is a game-changing moment, particularly ahead of future electoral contests. It sends a strong signal that the PDP is bleeding strength, while APC continues to consolidate across all senatorial zones.
The event drew top federal and state government officials, party stalwarts, and grassroots mobilisers, transforming the Trade Fair Complex into a carnival of celebration and renewed political energy.
“With this bold move, the APC’s grip on Kaduna politics just got tighter — and 2027 suddenly looks even more interesting”, according to Hamisu Abubakar Chikaji, a political commentator
