Senate confirms SWDC board members, Chairman, MD too

The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi as Chairman and Dr. Charles Akinola as Managing Director of the South-West Development Commission (SWDC) Board, along with 16 other nominees as members of the board.

Confirmation was done on Thursday in the National Assembly.

The confirmed members include: Bolaji Ariyo (Lagos), Joseph Olugbenga (Ekiti), Scholastica Omoworare (Osun), Olumuyiwa Olabimtan (Ogun), Adewinle, Martins (Ondo), Ibrahim Olaifa (Oyo), Kabiru Lakwaya (North-West), Abdul Adamu (North-West), Akinola Fagbemi (North-Central), and Ukoha Onyekwere (South-East).

Others are:: Alwell Ihenacho (South-South), Olugbenga Olufehinti (Executive Director, Projects – Ondo), Tele Ogunjobi (Executive Director, Finance – Ogun), Funmilayo Tejuosho (Executive Director, Corporate Services – Lagos), Fatai Ibikunle (Executive Director, Commercial and Environmental Development – Oyo), and Lateef Ajijola (Executive Director, Social and Human Capital Development – Ekiti)

The Senate Committee on SWDC, led by Senator Yunus Akintunde, evaluated the nominees’ academic qualifications, work experiences, competencies, and integrity. The committee found no adverse security reports or petitions against the nominees and affirmed that they are qualified and suitable for appointment to the SWDC Board.

The Senate adopted the committee’s report and confirmed the nominations of the chairman, managing director, and members of the SWDC Board. With this confirmation, the SWDC Board is expected to commence its mandate to drive development in the South-West region.
