From Salisu Zakari Maradun, Gusau
Over two hundred and sixteen million naira has been released for the payment of registration fees for 2025 students under the A.A Yari scholarship initiative, its chairman, Alhaji Tijjani Yahaya Kaura has declared.
It could be recalled that late last year, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, former governor of Zamfara state inaugurated a committee shouldered with the responsibility of sponsoring orphans and indigene of the state to further their studies at various institutions of learning across the country and which is headed by Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura.
The committee, according to the chairman who spoke through the publicity secretary of the committee Alhaji Ibrahim Danmaliki is also making all necessary arrangement for the subsequent payment of their upkeep allowances of the said students who have already been verified and commenced their lectures.
According to Danmaliki, the payment will include the arrears of seven months which was the time the students who succeeded in gaining admission were also verified by the committee.
He explained that the successful students will continue to receive the sum of fifteen thousand naira monthly as their up keep allowances throughout the period of their studies. Said he, “those studying ordinary course of four years, in other word normal degree as well as those who study medicine which is six years, will also continuously be receiving same amount for the period they will be in their respective institutions of learning.”
In addition to that, continued Danmaliki, the senator also on his own personal feeling humbly paid for another batch of 400 students over four million naira who got admission at some institutions of learning within Gusau, capital of the state and extensively went further to pay for another 50 students at north west university Sokoto.
Some of the universities where the students got admission included Federal University Dutsinma, Federal University Gusau and Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto.
Others according to the publicty secretary, were Bayero University Kano, State University Kaduna, Federal University of Science and Technology, Aliero and that of Shehu Shagari College of Education Sokoto.
