The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has approved the promotion of 30 Controllers of Corrections (CCs) to the rank of Assistant Controller General of Corrections (ACG) in the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS). In a press statement from Umar Abubakar, Deputy Controller, Public Relations, Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS) on Tuesday, the decision reflects the board’s commitment to merit-based advancement and professional excellence within the NCoS.

According to the statement 27 officers promoted for demonstrating exceptional dedication, leadership, and operational competence in various formations across the country; three officers elevated in recognition of their outstanding service and specialized contributions in Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, and Public Health.

The CGS, Sylvester Nwakuche, congratulated the newly promoted officers, urging them to redouble their efforts in delivering strategic leadership and fulfilling the Service’s mandates of reformation, rehabilitation, and reintegration of inmates. He emphasized that the promotion is not only a reward for past performance but also a call to higher responsibility in line with global best practices in correctional management.

The promotion exercise aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the ongoing reform drive of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, aimed at repositioning the Service for greater efficiency and professionalism. The CDCFIB’s commitment to merit-based advancement and professional excellence will continue to shape the leadership and direction of the NCoS ³.

The NCoS remains committed to building a motivated, disciplined, and professional workforce capable of meeting the complex demands of modern corrections and public safety. The promotion of these officers is expected to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the NCoS, ultimately contributing to the safety and security of the nation.
