Kano Community Hails Ganduje Over Waste Evacuation

From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh,  Kano

Residents of Magashi  community in Kano Municipal Local Government Area have hailed Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for the evacuation of accumulated waste dumped in the area over a long period of time.

One of the leaders in the community, Malan Auwalu Ibrahim Magashi, commended Ganduje’s administration  when the monitoring team of ‘Keep Kano Clean Initiative’  led by the state Commissioner of Environment, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso visited the site on a routine evacuation exercise.

Malam Auwalu  Magashi who spoke on behalf of the people in the  community, expressed appreciations for the zeal and passion demonstrated by Ganduje’s administration towards ensuring that Kano is kept clean.

Magashi  stated that, “for over a long period of time, the waste had been a great source of concern to the residents of this area and had since been bedeviling the smooth movement of people in the area.”

According to him,  the grevious challenges the waste posed to the community, especially, close-by houses, include health hazards, security threat and general discomfort,  which he acknowledged, have now become  things of the past.

In his remarks,    Dr. Getso said after receiving a report about the waste in Magashi, the Ministry immediately swung into action to safeguard the residents of the area by mobilizing the Operation department to do the needful.

He, therefore, restated the Ministry’s readiness to evacuate any waste within Kano metropolis as it has been a tradition and part of the Ministry’s mandate to clear  waste on daily basis in all nooks and crannies of Kano metropolis.

Dr. Getso appealed to the general public, as a matter of great concern, to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse, especially inside drainages which contributes heavily to flooding, while the state government has already secured waste collection sites in all the areas for people to utilize.

He also commended the people in the areas for identifying with the yearning and aspirations of the Ganduje-led administration and hoped that the tempo would be sustained for maximum benefit.
