The African Democratic Congress (ADC) 2023 governorship candidate in Benue State, Engr. Terhemen Tilley-Gyado, has thrown his weight behind the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Ralph Okey Nwosu, while endorsing Hon. Nafiu Bala as Acting National Chairman.
Addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday, Tilley-Gyado described Nwosu’s decision to step down voluntarily as “an honourable act” that demonstrates respect for the ADC constitution and a dedication to a smooth handover of leadership.
He noted that Bala, who previously served as Deputy National Chairman, is well-positioned to ensure stability and continuity as the party pushes forward with its political agenda.
The ADC candidate urged key figures in the coalition — including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, David Mark, Nasir El-Rufai, Rauf Aregbesola and others to formally quit their former political parties and register at the ADC’s ward level.
According to him, adherence to both the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution is essential to preserving the credibility of the coalition-building effort.
Reaffirming the ADC’s commitment to progressive values and integrity-driven politics, Tilley-Gyado described the party as a platform for credible opposition and democratic renewal.
He appealed to party members, supporters and political partners to rally behind transparency, legality and good governance in the quest to build, in his words, “a new Nigeria.”
