As the onslaught on terror target and the decimation of terrorist structures and infrastructure continues nationwide, the All Progressives Congress League of Professionals (ALP) has commended the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu for exhibiting ace professionalism as as a security expert.
Nuhu Ribadu, a retired policeman and an erstwhile Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was appointed by President Bola as the National Security Adviser (NSA) in 2023 and as part of broader efforts to quell the spate of insecurity that was inherited from the previous administration.
In a press release signed by the Convener, Comrade Marlin Daniel and made available to Journalists in Abuja, the group particularly commended Mallam Nuhu Ribadu for leading a high-stake, high-risk operation with coordination from other security agencies for the arrest of two notorious terrorists kingpins.
The release reads in part, “as professionals whose livelihoods have be severally affected by insecurity and unending acts of terror, the feat achieved by the NSA is not only commendable but a confirmation that he’s a core professional with the requisite competency to address Nigeria’s lingering security situation.
“The timely arrest of Mahmud Muhammad Usman, known as Abu Bara’a, and his deputy Mahmud al-Nigeri, also called Mallam Mamuda, two notorious terrorists with international backing and training is in indeed a breathe of fresh air for all Nigerians especially those who have been directly affected by their nefarious activities.
“To put it into perspective, these two men have been on Nigeria’s and international wanted list for years have jointly spearheaded multiple attacks on civilians, security forces, and critical infrastructure. Their operations include the 2022 Kuje prison break, the attack on the Niger uranium facility, the 2013 abduction of French engineer, Francis Collomp in Katsina, and the May 1, 2019 kidnapping of Musa Umar Uba (Magajin-Garin Daura). They were also behind the abduction of the Emir of Wawa, and they maintain active links with terrorist groups across the Maghreb, particularly in Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso.
“With this feat, the NSA has effectively dismantled the command structure of the al-Qaeda-linked Ansaru group, notorious for audacious kidnappings, attacks, cattle rustling and other terror campaigns across the country especially in nroth central and north western Nigeria. The success of this campaign will therefore serve as blueprint for finally bringing all other terror kingpins to book.
“The NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu therefore deserves a standing ovation and credit for the quiet, deliberate, intelligence-driven operation that led to this victory. The synergy between his office and that of other security agencies is a pointer to the fact that with collective and coordinated efforts, insecurity will be a thing of the past in Nigeria within a short period of time.
“The NSA has demonstrated that core professionals are consistent and dogged in their work. Even though the flight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling can’t be won overnight, there’s strong hope that the NSA has cracked the code and large scale successful operations will be the order of the day with Mallam Nuhu Ribadu at the helm of affairs.
“Similar efforts spearheaded by the NSA have led to relative calm in Zamfara, Sokoto, Plateau and Benue States, including eastern Nigeria that was once a security nightmare. These achievement have translated into high foreign direct investments and promoted business activities that were hitherto grounded in the affected areas.
“It is on this note that we have deemed it fit to sing the praises of, and pass a vote of confidence in one of us who has done the country proud. It is a victory for all Nigerians, particularly those who have been directly affected by the needless acts of violence and insecurity across the country”
