Tinubu tackling challenges of the North, entire country, APC G3 replies Marafa

The APC Grassroots Governance Group APC G3 on Tuesday said President Bola Tinubu’s preoccupation for now is tackling challenges facing the Northern region and other parts of the country and not 2027 election.

The Group stated this in reaction to comments by former lawmaker and ex-chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Kabiru Marafa that he will
reduce Tinubu’s 2027 votes by one million votes.

Marafa, who represented Zamfara Central in the Senate from 2011 to 2019, made the declaration on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme on Monday, shortly after announcing his resignation from the APC.

According to Marafa“I’m going to assure you something today. I’m going to deduct one million out of Mr. President’s votes that he got in 2023. Mark my words. I’m going to do it. I would work for it and by the special grace of God, I’m going to win that.”

The APC G3 in a press release by the National Amechi Chuks. Oyema said recent reports indicates that the present administration is working quietly across various sectors to bring smiles to the people of Zamfara, the entire North and other regions.

“The President is aware of the sacrifices of people who worked for his election and at the same time he is working to fulfil his promises to the generality of Nigerians.

“That the President is concerned with Zamfara and the North is attested to by the Director-General, Budget Office, Dr. Tanimu Yakubu.

“According to Yakubu, “more than half of the capital budgets for 2024 and 2025, were allocated to projects and programs in Northern Nigeria. Contrary to politically-motivated narratives, Northern Nigeria is not on the margins; it is at the heart of federal investment priorities. Over 50% of the capital budget for 2024 and 2025 is traceable to projects and programs in the North when major national trunk infrastructure and water basin investments are properly accounted for.

Tanimu also listed flagship projects and interventions that serve as evidence of the administration’s commitment to developing the North.

“These include the Abuja–Kano Expressway dualization, ₦12.1 trillion Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway, the most ambitious cross-regional road project in decades, spanning 1,068 km, costing ₦3.63 trillion, with 30% of it already approved by President Tinubu for the project’s initial rollout in Sokoto and Kebbi; Kano–Maradi Standard Gauge Railway, a Sahel trade corridor enabler; Zungeru–Kano Power Transmission Line, boosting industrial power supply; Funtua and Bauchi Inland Dry Ports for agro-export and logistics; and Expansion of Airport Runways in Katsina, Maiduguri and Kaduna.”

“With all these, it is obvious that President Tinubu is not preoccupied with the 2027 elections, but working to uplift
the North and other parts of the country,” APC G3 added.
