Governor Uzodimma’s aides assaults Imo Journalist

From Everest Ezihe, Owerri

‎Mr.Uchechukwu Olebara, a senior editorial staff of Radio Maria 106.7 FM, Owerri has been allegedly assaulted and his blue painted Toyota Corolla car, windscreens, side mirrors and the headlamps smashed just as the body of the car was equally badly dented by Governor Hope Uzodimma’s aides operating under the guise of Environmental Monitoring and Compliance Unit of the Shared Prosperity administration.

‎According to an eyewitness, Mr Johnson Orie, the event happened last Monday in New Owerri, as Olebara popularly known as Cool Dj Blaze escaped death by whiskers as men of the Monitoring and Compliance Units of Shared Prosperity and 3R administrative mantra’s were on him, for allegedly recording them while they were on demolition of illegal structures and shanties in the area.

‎Orie informed that they used matchettes, hauling stones and big sticks with which they smashed his car and he needed to run for his dear life.

‎Olebara in his speech while briefing Journalists in Owerri on Tuesday collaborated with the eyewitness as he said that, they smashed his windscreens and side mirrors, and fatally dented the body of the car.

‎He also noted that all his outside lights were brutally assaulted, and that the incident happened at New Owerri Round About near Rento Hotel.

‎The Journalist reiterated that the State government agents were demolishing what they considered as shanties but ironically been used by poor people for small scale trading.

‎He poised pertinent questions that borders, ” for how long are Imolites going to be scared for their lives ? For how long is this going to continue ? I mean these irresponsible rascalities every where , and no body seems to say anything, no respect for lives and properties. Every body is scared in this city, no body is talking or dares them.

‎”For how long will we continue to employ the services of people who are irresponsible, charlatans, illiterates and people who have no regards for human life ? For how long ? In this city called Owerri, if you have no body, if you can not speak out, you are as good as gone.

‎” Some people are untouchable, outlaws and they can do anything and get away. This is one of it. This happens every day, yet no body talks no body speaks out. It’s likened to, Imolites should live with whatever they see or experienced. This my vehicle. Owerri make una dey see. There’s God oooooo!!!!!. Am in pain and I want justice. Is it a crime to be a Journalists in Nigeria. How safe are we in Imo State ?” he asked the rethorical questions.

‎The Journalist further lamented that the funny part of the whole thing is that he equally went to New Owerri police station to report the matter, but he was simply told to call the SA and settle with him.

‎”This keeps getting interesting as every single person in the state he called told him to drop the matter and let it go.

‎”What is left for him to do now? If he let’s go and bears the burden of fixing his cars what happens to the next person and the next person”.
