Some stakeholders in the digital space have called for the implementation of cybersecurity policies that would secure people including child from mental and moral abuse.
They spoke at an event to commemorate the 2025 Cybersecurity Awareness Day marked annually in the month of October.
The event organised by Levi EduTech, a cybersmart organisation, had as its theme, “Stay Safe Online”.

The organisation recognised Cybersmart Educators, inaugurated a Cybersmart Club in schools to tackle digital moral crisis in schools.
No fewer than 200 educators were celebrated at the event, while pupils and students were equipped with cyber information safety guards to promote cyber security.
Speaking, Levi EduTech Media Marketing and Logistics officer, Mr Johnson Sehinde, described the awareness as pivotal to addressing the challenges of the digital world.
According to him, the event marks a pivotal step in reshaping Nigeria’s education system through cybersecurity awareness, digital literacy, and moral responsibility.
“The Cybersmart Educators Initiative trained 140 educators across public and private schools in Nigeria, equipping them with the skills to integrate cybersecurity and technology safely into classroom practice.
“The initiative focused on the “Fundamentals of Cybersecurity Practices in Education”, combining practical training, seminars, and international exposure to digital safety tools.
“This holistic approach ensures that educators not only understand the risks associated with technology use but are also empowered to teach students how to navigate the digital world responsibly,” Sehinde said.
A professor at the Federal University of Technology Akure, Ondo State, Prof. Boniface Kayode, said that the timing of the event was significant, aligning with the global observance of Cybersecurity Awareness.
Kayode said also that the event contributed to the national discourse on digital safety, particularly in the context of Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
He spoke on “Zero Trust Security for Nigerian Schools: A Practical Framework for Protecting Staff and Students Online.”
“There is an urgent need for Nigerian schools to adopt structured cybersecurity frameworks that safeguard both children and institutional data from the growing threats in the digital landscape,“ he said.
In her remarks, Head of Operations at Levi EduTech, Mrs Naomi Adesola-Zion, said that digital morality in classrooms was urgently needed to infuse standard and discard with indecent exposure.
She decried the dangers of unchecked cyber space including the moral decay affecting youths.
“Technology has become both a blessing and a battlefield. If we do not act intentionally and urgently, we risk not just privacy but our children’s sense of right and wrong,” she said.
She called for a unified effort from schools, parents, and policymakers to guide the next generation in safe, ethical, and responsible technology use.
