Yuletide: Umahi orders opening of roads for festive traffic relief

The Minister of Works, senator David Umahi, has directed Controllers of Works to open roads under construction and completed ones across the six geo-political zones to ease traffic during the festive period.

This is contained in a public notice sent out by the Permanent secretary for the ministry, Rafiu Adeladan on Monday.

It said the initiative is aimed at ensuring safe travel by commuters nationwide.

The notice also invited all the directors, Zonal directors, Controllers of Works in the Ministry, and Managing Directors, as well as project managers of the companies handling emergency road projects of the Ministry for a meeting, on Tuesday.

According to the notice, ” The Minister of Works invites all the Directors, Zonal Directors, and Controllers of Works in the Ministry, and Managing Directors, as well as Project Managers of companies handling the Ministry’s road projects to an emergency meeting.

“Further more, all Controllers of Works are hereby directed to ensure that all Federal roads currently under construction, as well as those already completed within their respective zones, are opened to commuters and road users throughout the festive period to facilitate smooth and safe travel nationwide”.
