House Committee Advocates for More Youths Capacity Training to Curb Unemployment

The DG Center for Management Development, Mr Bitrus Chonoko has been commended and encouraged to do more by engaging in youth capacity building to help curb the level of youth unemployment .

The chairman house committee on national planning and economic development , Hon. Olododo Abdulganiyu (member Kwara State) made this stands while on an oversight visit to the centre yesterday.

The house committee expressed satisfaction on the transformation of the centre so far by the DG but stressed that the centre must begin to think of away out to generate funds to the federal government and employment for the youth.

Before the recommendations members of the committee raised some questions during the DG’s presentation.

Hon. Kawu Simeon from Gombe demanded to know how the youth are been carried along in the capacity building stressing that over 36 million Nigerians remain unemployed

Hon. Shaba representing lokoja demanded to know if the Agency was fully funded by the federal government

Responding to some of the questions, the DG assured the committee that the youth are largely been carried along and he promised to supply details of the number of personnel trained so far.

Responding to the question from honourable Shaba representing Lokoja federal constituency ,the DG said the centre is now fully funded by the federal government.

Chonoko went further to apologized for not capturing all that in the report but stressed that the report came the way it was because of the letter received from the committee which specified the angle of report they wanted to see when they come visiting ,he thanked the house for the visit and promised to work on all recommendations by the committee to help move the agency forward.

He also call on the house committee to pay physical visit to their projects in the report to ascertain the level of the agencies performance.

The Chairman of the committee who spoke to reporters after the visit expressed satisfaction on the DG’s Performance.
