It was a moment of celebration and Thanksgiving to God as people from all walks of life accompanied a senior lecturer in Ebonyi state University, Prof.Emmanuel Chike Onwe, to Thanksgiving service following his promotion to the rank of Professor.
The Thanksgiving service, which took place at the ECWA Church,Idembia,Ezza South LGA, Ebonyi State was well attended by his colleagues,friends, and well wishers, including executive council members, legislators, business moguls, members of the academia, among others.
Narrating his ordeals and journey to the rank of Professor of Strategic Communication in Ebonyi State University,Prof.Chike Onwe stated that it is only the Grace of God that found him.He explained that after the setbacks of 2011–2018,rekindled his passion for advancement, which inspired him to start writing, publishing, and networking.
According to Prof Onwe:Each book and article emerged from questions I could not ignore, addressing society, power, communication, and governance. I also sought to ensure knowledge moved beyond the page.In classroom, boardroom, and public institutions, theory met practice, and practice reshaped theory.Over time,my work took tangible form.Books, articles, and chapters--such as Human Communication: The Art of winning the heart--became prove of sustained enquiry.Conferences, seminars, and professional networks reinforced the communal nature of scholarship. The year of appraisal tested patience, and resilience.It was through the guidance and institutional dexterity of Prof Eugene Nweke,Prof.Ngozi Emeka-Nwobia, and Prof.Chuks Edeogu that the process moved forward.” Prof Chike stated .
He further noted that the decisive leadership of the new Vice Chancellor,Prof.Michael Ugota Awoke, ensured completion, saying that the confirmation was more than a personal milestone, because it was a testament to principled administration, institutional Fidelity, and ensuring value of perseverance.
Earlier in his sermon,Rev.Chinedu Okechukwu, while speaking on the topic,“ Expressing gratitude through Thanksgiving Celebration”, stated that gratitude can’t be complete until you express it out,adding that Thangiving is all about showing gratitude to God for His mercies and kindness; it is celebration of victory.
Rev Okechukwu,who took his Bible passage from Exo15:1-21 said that people of Israelites after looking back at what God has done in their journey to the promise land, could not hold it,but expressed gratitude and Thangiving to God for His mercies and kindness.`At their back, there was Egyptian while at their front, there was red sea.That's why the sang who is like unto thee'
In his goodwill message,the governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru felicitate with Prof.Chike Onwe, saying that his elevation to the rank of Professor is a reward for diligence, commitment, dedication, and service to humanity.
