A prominent Nigerian politician has raised concerns about Professor Pat Utomi’s recent involvement with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), allegedly accusing him of secretly working for President Bola Tinubu.
Cardinal Comrade Edede, Franklyn Maduabuchi, a Capacity National Leader, expressed his reservations in a telephone interview on Tuesday, warning against Utomi’s alleged intentions.
Edede claimed that Utomi did not genuinely support Peter Obi’s presidential bid in 2023, but rather worked as an agent for Tinubu.
He questioned the source of Utomi’s funding for TETFUND in 2023, suggesting that he was pretending to back Obi while undermining him from within.
According to him, Utomi was instrumental in the split between Obi and Atiku Abubakar, which contributed to Tinubu’s victory.
He alleged that Utomi’s current advice for Obi to contest independently is aimed at paving the way for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Cardinal Edede, therefore warned that anyone encouraging Obi to run outside the Atiku-led ADC is inadvertently supporting Tinubu’s continuation in office.
He praised Atiku as a seasoned politician and former vice president, saying it would be unwise for him to be a running mate to anyone.
Cardinal Edede Franklyn Maduabuchi believes the only way to remove Tinubu from office is for Atiku and Obi to come together under the ADC, with Atiku as the presidential candidate and Obi as his running mate.
“The North and South East regions would massively support the Atiku-Obi ticket, making it a winning combination,” Edede concluded.
