Northern Christian leaders appoint Christy David to lead women wing

Northern Christian leaders under the Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly, NOCRELA, have appointed Mrs. Christy Pawa David as Chairperson of its Women Wing.

The appointment was conveyed in a formal letter issued by the Board of Trustees of the Assembly, confirming her new role as head of the women’s arm of the Christian body in Northern Nigeria.

Mrs. David, who hails from Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State, was appointed in recognition of her faith, leadership qualities and commitment to Christian unity and women mobilisation.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly (NOCRELA), we are pleased to formally convey your appointment as the Chairperson of the NOCRELA Women Wing.

“This appointment is in recognition of your unwavering faith, exemplary leadership, commitment to Christian unity, and your passion for mobilising women for spiritual growth, moral influence, and societal transformation across Northern Nigeria.

Outline her responsibilities, the letter she would be “Providing spiritual and administrative leadership to the Women Wing of the Assembly; Coordinating and supervising all programmes, activities, and initiatives of the NOCRELA Women Wing in line with the vision and objectives of the Assembly; Mobilising Christian women across Northern Nigeria for prayer, evangelism, advocacy, peacebuilding, and community development, and Working closely with the National Executive Council and other organs of the Assembly to promote unity and effective collaboration.”

The letter further outlined additional responsibilities, including presiding over meetings, mentoring women leaders, ensuring discipline and accountability, and representing the Women Wing at official engagements.

“This appointment shall be for a single tenure of five (5) years, commencing from 8th August, 2025 and ending on 7th August, 2030, unless otherwise reviewed, extended, or modified by the Board of Trustees in accordance with the provisions of the Assembly’s Constitution,” it added.

The Assembly expressed confidence in Mrs. David’s capacity to discharge her duties with dedication and spiritual excellence, adding that details of her formal inauguration would be communicated later.

“We are confident that you will discharge this sacred responsibility with dedication, wisdom, and spiritual excellence. Your leadership as Chairperson of the Women Wing is a divine stewardship aimed at strengthening families, transforming communities, and advancing God’s Kingdom,” they said.

The appointment letter was signed by the Secretary-General of NOCRELA, Rev. Dr. Simon A. S. Dolly-KIIF, on behalf of the Board of Trustees.
