Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has saluted Nigeria’s Armed Forces for their courage, service, patriotism, and discipline. In a message to commemorate the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Speaker Abbas paid glowing tribute to the fallen heroes and the resilience of men and women in service.
The Speaker especially hailed members of the Armed Forces who have paid the supreme price while on duty call, describing them as national heroes whose labor should never be in vain. “Their sacrifice will never be forgotten,” Speaker Abbas said.
The Speaker commended the Armed Forces for being critical stakeholders in the maintenance of Nigeria’s democracy. Their service has contributed to the socio-economic and political stability the country has enjoyed since 1999.
The Speaker restated the commitment of the House to empowering the security and intelligence agencies towards ensuring the safety of life and property, which is the primary duty of the government. “We will continue to support our security agencies in their efforts to protect the country and its citizens,” Speaker Abbas said.
The Speaker expressed his confidence in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to address the security challenges facing the country, especially with the significant adjustments in the country’s security architecture.
The Speaker wished Nigeria’s Armed Forces a happy Remembrance Day. “We appreciate your service and sacrifice,” Speaker Abbas said. “You are the defenders of our nation and the guardians of our democracy.”
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is a significant occasion to honor the bravery and sacrifice of our armed forces. The Speaker’s message is a testament to the importance of recognizing and appreciating the contributions of our security agencies.
