The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) recorded significant operational successes nationwide between 31 January and 8 February 2026, neutralising scores of terrorists, rescuing dozens of kidnapped victims and dismantling criminal enclaves across multiple theatres of operation.

In the North East, troops under Operation HADIN KAI killed over 50 Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters, including a notorious commander in Borno State, destroyed terrorist detention camps capable of holding about 300 captives, and rescued more than 80 abducted persons.

Precision airstrikes also eliminated vehicle-borne improvised explosive device threats.

In the North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops cleared terrorist enclaves across Kwara, Zamfara, Katsina and Kaduna States, rescuing kidnapped victims and destroying camps. Following deadly attacks in Kaiama LGA of Kwara State, the military launched Operation SAVANAH SHIELD to intensify security operations in Kwara and Niger States.

Operations in the North Central under ENDURING PEACE and WHIRL STROKE disrupted kidnapping and extremist activities across Plateau, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa and Taraba States, while troops in the South-South dismantled illegal refineries and foiled oil theft under Operation DELTA SAFE.

In the South-East, Operation UDO KA led to arrests and rescues across several states.

Quoting the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Mike Onoja, the military said the operations underscore its resolve to secure the nation.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria remain steadfast in protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country. These coordinated operations demonstrate our unwavering commitment to restoring peace, safeguarding lives and property, and dismantling all threats to national security,” Onoja said.

He added that the military would continue to work with other security agencies and urged citizens to support ongoing operations by providing timely and credible information.
