Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has approved the appointment of Professor Timothy Alabar as the new Vice Chancellor, Father Adasu University, Makurdi, FAUM formerly Benue State university, BSU.
Alia who is the visitor to the university made the approval following due process leading to the appointment as was carried out by the Governing board and other relevant authorities.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Tersoo Kula, said the appointment takes immediate effect.
The statement said Alabar replaced Prof Joseph Iorapuu whose tenure elapsed in 2025.
According to the statement, before Alabar’s appointment, he was the Dean Postgraduate School, FAUM. He hails from Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
It explained that Alabar, who is a Professor of Marketing started his academic practice with the Father Adasu University from 1999 till date, he had previously held different positions of responsibilities including Dean, Faculty of Administration & Management; Acting Vice-Chancellor; Head, Department of Business Management.
Others include acting Chairman Consultant Services, Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies; Deputy Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences; Coordinator, Post Graduate Diploma in Management, Department of Business Management; Examination Officer, Post Graduate Diploma in Management.
While congratulating the new Vice Chancellor, Governor Alia charged him to provides visionary, ethical, and inclusive leadership that will advance academic excellence, and foster cutting-edge research, and nurture character as well as competence.
