The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested 10 suspects for criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, vandalism, theft, and other related offenses in the Federal Capital Territory and neighboring states.
The suspects were apprehended by the NSCDC’s CG’s Special Intelligence Squad (SIS) and CG’s Crack Squad in a well-coordinated operation targeting criminal elements involved in the vandalism of government-critical infrastructure and national assets.
According to a press statement signed by the National Public Relations Officer, ACC Afolabi Babawale, the suspects include Suleiman Ibrahim, Libras Umar, Umar Rabiu, Muktar Yusuf, Ibrahim Haruna, and Sunday Ezekiel, who were arrested for vandalism of electrical power and communications installations, theft, and other related offenses.
Four other suspects, Ali Musa, Musa Juli, Umar Abdullahi, and Murtala Ibrahim, were arrested for kidnapping, cattle rustling, and theft.
The Commandant General of NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has reiterated the Corps’ zero-tolerance stance against vandalism, sabotage, and any threats to government critical infrastructure and national assets.
The suspects have made meaningful confessions and will be charged before a competent court of law to serve as a deterrent to others considering similar acts.
The NSCDC appreciates the continued cooperation of the public and assures citizens of its unwavering dedication to safeguarding lives, property, and national assets.
The operation was made possible through credible intelligence provided by the public and swift operational collaboration between the CG SIS and CG Crack Squad.
The NSCDC has vowed to continue its efforts to protect critical infrastructure and national assets, and to bring perpetrators of vandalism and kidnapping to justice.
