Ramadan: Ododo urges tolerance, vigilance, peaceful living in Kogi

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has urged residents of the state to promote religious tolerance, remain vigilant and live peacefully with one another as Muslims across the world commence fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, the governor described Ramadan as a sacred period devoted to fasting, prayer, reflection and spiritual renewal for the Muslim Ummah.

According to the Governor: “the holy month of Ramadan offers an opportunity for believers to strengthen their relationship with Almighty Allah and reaffirm commitment to the values of compassion, charity, humility and self-discipline.”

Governor Ododo also called on Muslim faithful to use the Ramadan season to offer prayers for enduring peace, stability and development in Kogi State and the country as a whole.

He restated his administration’s commitment to safeguarding freedom of worship and fostering peaceful coexistence among adherents of different religions across the state.

The governor prayed that Almighty Allah accepts the fasts, prayers and acts of charity of all Muslims, and urged them to remain vigilant, law-abiding and continue to pray for sustained peace and progress of the state.

He further encouraged Muslims in the state to maintain peace and show compassion to the less privileged, noting that kindness to others represents the true spirit of the holy month of Ramadan.
