The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has released a comprehensive report detailing the success of the Delta Central Diabetes Sensitization and Testing Medical Outreach conducted from October 1 to 18, 2025.
According to the senator, the initiative—sponsored by his office and implemented by National Health Fellows from Delta Central—was designed to promote community awareness, early detection, free testing, health education, and preventive care for diabetes across the district.
The outreach spanned communities within the eight Local Government Areas of Delta Central, delivering grassroots healthcare services aimed at combating the growing burden of diabetes and related non-communicable diseases.
In a statement issued by him on Saturday, Senator Dafinone highlighted the critical role played by development partners and donor organizations in strengthening the impact of the programme, as he acknowledged the support of the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), which provided eye care and vision support services during the outreach.
He also commended the Anthony Okoro Development Foundation (AODF) for its contributions to tuberculosis screening and follow-up care, as well as the Maden Healthcare Foundation for conducting tuberculosis and malaria screenings.
Additional institutional support was received from Local Government Health Authorities, Executive Secretaries for Health, and facilitators from the World Health Organization, who provided technical guidance throughout the programme, the lawmaker explained.
The senator reserved special praise for the National Health Fellows, commending their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to service, while noting that their coordinated efforts ensured quality healthcare interventions reached underserved and rural communities within the district.
Reaffirming his commitment to public health, Senator Dafinone emphasized that prevention, early intervention, and people-centered healthcare delivery remain central to his agenda for Delta Central.
“Together, we remain committed to building a healthier Delta Central,” he stated, even as he underscored the importance of sustained collaboration in addressing pressing health challenges within the senatorial district.
Similar medical outreaches sponsored Senator Dafinone to promote healthcare in Delta Central district last year recorded huge success as well, with thousands of his elated and grateful constituents taking advantage of the opportunities.
