Sen. Dafinone congratulates Disu, seeks decisive action against insecurity

Senator Ede Dafinone has congratulated Mr. Tunji Disu on his appointment as the Acting Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the elevation as well-deserved and a recognition of his distinguished service.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the lawmaker representing Delta Central Senatorial District commended Disu’s professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to duty within the Nigeria Police Force.

Dafinone noted that Disu’s rise through the ranks was marked by discipline, courage, and exemplary leadership, earning him national confidence and positioning him for the critical role of leading the country’s police institution.

According to the senator, Disu has consistently demonstrated competence, integrity, and a firm grasp of contemporary policing challenges, qualities he said are vital at a time when Nigeria faces significant security concerns.

He urged the new Acting Inspector-General of Police to deploy his experience and expertise to confront pressing insecurity across the country, particularly kidnapping for ransom, banditry, and the lingering conflicts between farmers and herders.

“Nigerians look forward to strengthened efforts in tackling kidnapping for ransom, banditry, and the persistent conflicts between farmers and herders, which continue to threaten lives, livelihoods, and national stability,” the statement read.

Dafinone expressed confidence in Disu’s capacity to enhance public safety, restore trust in law enforcement, and promote peace and stability nationwide. He also assured the Acting Inspector-General of his support as he assumes the new responsibility.
