Multi-billion Naira Bauchi Flyovers Attract ECOWAS Team

By George Coben, Bauchi

In response to Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed’s earlier engagement with ECOWAS Bank for investment and development, EBID, in Lome, Togo, an appraisal team from the Bank has paid a visit to the state, and inspected major infrastructure projects, as part of plans to support on going urban development.

Projects reportedly inspected by the team included the multi-billion Naira Wunti and Central market flyovers, construction of which nears completion, designed to ease traffic congestion and enhance commercial activities within Bauchi metropolis.

The team’s appraisal mission was aimed at evaluating technical and financial viability before the Bank proceeds with further financing arrangements.

Its mission also forms part of EBID’s standard of due diligence process and provides an opportunity for both parties to assess technical, financial, and operational considerations before the next phase of engagement.

Earlier welcoming the delegation, the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent utilization of resources.

Governor Mohammed stated that the projects under review were conceived to improve urban mobility, strengthen commercial activities, and expand critical infrastructure across the state.

Construction of the Wunti/Central market flyover projects were flagged off by Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on May 24, 2024.
