Orientation should start from homes, , Speaker Anambra Assembly declares

The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Somtochukwu Udeze has stressed the need for orientation to start from the home front.
 
Rt Hon Udeze who observed that there is serious deviance in the nation’s societal values said this, while receiving in audience, the Anambra State Director of National Orientation Agency, Barr. Lady Ifeoma Chijioke and her team.
 
He who noted that Nigerian leaders and the parents have continued to deceive the youths with empty promises as the future leaders of the country, maintained that Nigerians at all levels are duty bound towards strengthening the future of the nation, emphasizing that orientation should start from home.
 
The Speaker regretted that nothing has changed in the country over the years, despite the fact that the nation has beautiful institutions all over the country with well articulated structures.
 
While querying the nation’s institutions on their positions towards changing the old narratives, the Speaker expressed the preparedness of Anambra State House of Assembly to partner NOA for a positive change in society.
 
Rt.Hon. Udeze, who confirmed that the Nigerian society is loosing its values, advocated establishment of strong guidance and counseling units in schools across the state and rejuvenation of the eroded moral lessons in schools with a view to catching the school children young.
 
The Anambra State Director of NOA, Barr. Lady Ifeoma Chijioke in her presentation, said that the visit is a fertile platform to strengthening institutional collaboration between the agency and the Anambra state legislative chamber .
 
She spoke extensively on the mandates of NOA said that the agency has  embarked on a renewed national orientation movement anchored on citizen engagement, value re-orientation, public trust building and behavioural transformation in the country.
 
Speaking on the strategic role of the legislature in the nation building, Barr. Chijioke, said that the legislature, beyond its constitutional responsibilities of lawmaking, oversight,and presentation, occupied a central place in democratic governance in the country.
 
 She assured that the agency is ever ready to work closely with the Anambra State lawmakers in building a society founded on patriotism, integrity, discipline, civil responsibility, social justice and national unity.
