2027: Lists of candidates circulating on social media fake – NDC

By Myke Uzendu, Abuja

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has disowned lists of candidates currently circulating on social media, describing them as fake, misleading and not originating from the party’s national headquarters.

In a statement issued by the National Secretary, Barr. Ikenna Alex-Morgan Enekweizu, the party cautioned members of the public, particularly its supporters in Imo, Abia, Anambra and other affected states, to disregard the purported lists being shared online.

The NDC stressed that an official lists of candidates have been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through the appropriate channels and in full compliance with the Electoral Act.

According to the party, the documents currently in circulation are the work of “mischief makers” seeking to create confusion, sow division and undermine the unity and progress of the party.

“The fraudulent lists currently in circulation are the handiwork of mischief makers and individuals whose intention is to sow confusion, create division, and undermine the progress of our great party. These actions represent desperate attempts to distract the party and cause unnecessary disaffection among members.” the statement said.

The party added that it has commenced investigations into the source of the fabricated documents and would take necessary steps to protect its internal processes and maintain discipline within its ranks.

“The leadership of the NDC is already investigating the source of these fabricated documents and will take all necessary measures to protect the integrity of the party and its democratic processes” he stated.

The NDC assured members that it remains focused on its mission of building a credible political platform aimed at addressing Nigeria’s challenges and delivering democratic dividends to citizens.

It urged party faithful and supporters to remain calm and not be distracted by what it described as deliberate attempts to cause disaffection within the party.

The statement reaffirmed the party’s commitment to transparency, internal democracy and adherence to electoral guidelines as it prepares for future elections.
