The lawmaker representing Nnewi North constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Onyekachukwu Augustine Ike PhD, has stated that the people of Nnewi will not tolerate any of desecration and disrespect to the traditional ruler of Nnewi ancient kingdom, HRH Igwe Dr KON Orizu 111.
Hon Ike who spoke to journalists about the alleged disqualification of Nnewichi community to produce the next chairman of Nnewi-North Local Government Area, said he has zero tolerance for any form of disrespect to Igwe Nnewi, noting that wherever the traditional ruler stands on any issue is where the community stands.
The lawmaker explained that it was a taboo for Nzukora-Nnewi, the Nnewi community town union to have written a counter letter to Gov Charles Soludo concerning which community should produces the next chairman of the council area, when the traditional ruler had earlier written to the governor on the matter.
He said all the counter letters written to the governor were misleading adding that the truth of the matter remains that the entire community is with the traditional ruler in accordance with equity and fairness, stressing that Nnewichi community won’t be shortchanged.
The Uruagu-Nnewi born lawmaker said pointedly that Nzukora-Nnewi has no right whatsoever to rebel against the paramount traditional ruler or kick against the decisions of the highly respected monarch of Nnewi.
He said as it stands at the moment, the people of Nnewi no longer recognizes the presence of Nzukora-Nnewi because it seized to exist the day it began to contest the decisions of HRH Igwe Dr KON Orizu.
Hon Ike who disclosed that he was instrumental to the emergence of the incumbent chairman of Nnewi-North Local Government Area, Hon Echezona Anazodo, noted that the current chairman was sworn-in to serve a single tenure of two years and to exit for Nnewichi to produce the next chairman.
He said with concern that every institution that is supposed to checkmate the excesses of the chairman of Nnewi North LGA, are working for him against the collective will of the people.
Hon Ike revealed that the community town union, Nzukora-Nnewi has become a stooge to the incumbent chairman even as he claimed that the President-General(PG) of Nzukora-Nnewi has been impeached by the people of Nnewi for tempering with the constitution of the land to enable the LGA chairman get a second term, against the agelong single term rotational agreement between the four villages that constitute the industrial town.
Otolo-Nnewi, Uruagu-Nnewi, Umudim-Nnewi and Nnewichi-Nnewi are the four communities that constitute the industrial town of Nnewi.
