Kebbi state council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Saturday held its annual Ramadan support to the families of deceased journalists in Kebbi state.
Earlier,in his speech, the state Chairman NUJ Kebbi state, Alhaji Bello Muhammed Sarki said that they inherited the good tradition from the past leadership of the union as such they are building on it and sustaining it with modifications
“This annual event is my second in charge of NUJ Kebbi state what we are giving to the families of deceased journalists is nothing compared to their sacrifices to our state and country, we do it annually to give their families the continuous sense of belonging,we pray may their souls rest in peace”.
He commended the Kebbi state government for her support to the union particularly the deceased journalists package even as he appealed to Kebbi government under governor Nasir Idris to give NUJ a befitting secretariat now that workers had moved to the new secretariat.
Also speaking at the event, the special adviser to the governor on communication and strategy, Alhaji Abdulllahi Idris Zuru commended working journalists in the state for always spotlighting the numerous achievements of governor Nasir Idris.
Zuru prayed for the repose of the souls of deceased journalists saying their sacrifices has never and will never be in vain.
Amid tears the families appreciated the efforts of the NUJ and thanked those who supported them directly or directly after they lost their husbands.
