The Plateau State Police Command has arrested 20-year-old Jonathan Sambo Bitrus, for allegedly defrauding a POS machine operator of ₦1,550,000 at Terminus market, Jos.
It was gathered that Bitrus accessed the victim’s transaction history and tricked her into handing over the cash.
According to the police, Bitrus confessed to the crime and used the funds to buy an iPhone 13 Pro and clothing materials.
“He cancelled the transaction during withdrawal,” the police statement read.
The Plateau State Police Command warns citizens to be vigilant when dealing with financial transactions.
“We condemn such fraudulent acts and assure the public of our commitment to combating financial crimes,” said SP Alfred Alabo, Police Public Relations Officer.
