The governor actually suspended some workers of the State for six months for lateness to work.

Gov. Soludo at about 10.00am went to the State Civil Service Commission at the back of old government house and discovered that many workers were not on their duty posts.

The Governor obviously angered by the development instructed the Head of Service to suspend the workers for six months without salaries.

He later went to the State Secretariat where the situation was not different from what happened at Civil Service Commission complex.

The Governor in an attempt to separate the punctual workers from latecomers ordered that his convoy be used to blockade the gate.

The development threw many workers off balance as they never expected Gov. Soludo’s august visit.

Some workers who spoke on grounds of anonymity expressed shock over the suspension without pay slammed on the workers for lateness to work.

They accused the governor of not being sensitive to their plights as certain workers have to travel from as far as Nnewi, Onitsha and beyond to resume work in Awka.

“Successive governments gave civil servants buses that was picking them from Ekwulobia, Onitsha and Nnewi and dropping at work , the positive intervention has stopped since Soludo came on board, the vehicles have been parked,” a distraught worker lamented.
