Troops of Headquarters 63 Brigade/Sector 1, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, have recorded a major operational breakthrough with the recovery of arms and the arrest of two suspected criminals in Delta State.
Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 63 Brigade, Captain Iliyasu Bawa-Rijau, who confirmed the development, said the operation took place at Ogidigben Community in Warri South West Local Government Area following reports of sporadic gunfire that caused panic among residents.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops swiftly mobilised to the area, where they confiscated four AK-47 rifles, six magazines, and 106 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Other items recovered include two knives, ten machetes, and four pairs of rain boots.
The suspects apprehended during the operation are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation by security authorities.
Commending the troops for their resilience, the Commander 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, urged them to sustain the operational tempo.
He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of action and warned individuals or groups involved in illegal activities to desist, noting that efforts would be intensified to track down offenders.
