The Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) says that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has fulfilled his campaign promises to Northern Nigeria through the delivery of key infrastructural and developmental projects across the region.
In a statement issued by its Director of Media and Publicity, Tunde Rahman, following a media tour of Federal Government projects in the North-West geopolitical zone, the group dismissed claims in some quarters that the President had neglected the region.
The RHA said the tour, conducted in collaboration with the Presidential Media Team, covered project sites from Zuba Junction in the Federal Capital Territory through Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa and Kebbi states. It noted that the Tinubu administration had remained committed to the North through various interventionist projects at different stages of completion.
According to the group, the Federal Government, under the Renewed Hope Agenda, initiated 260 Special Intervention Projects nationwide through the Federal Ministry of Works, with 48 of such projects located in the North-West zone—comprising Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states. It described this as the highest allocation among the six geopolitical zones.
“These intervention projects will improve transportation, boost trade and agriculture, and accelerate economic growth,” the statement said.
Among the projects inspected was the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway, where ongoing work includes a 20-centimetre concrete pavement and installation of solar-powered streetlights. The 82-kilometre Section 1, stretching from Zuba Junction to beyond Jere and handled by Infiouest International Construction Company, is nearing completion, while work has commenced on Section 2, with a completion target of November.
In Kaduna, the delegation visited the Kaduna Western Bypass, a 21-kilometre dual carriageway project that had stalled for over two decades but is now about 50 per cent complete with no funding constraints reported.
The team also assessed progress on the Kaduna-Kano-Katsina-Maradi railway line linking Northern Nigeria to Niger Republic, describing it as one of the administration’s flagship infrastructure projects. A flyover bridge along the rail corridor in Kaduna is scheduled for completion by December 2026.
In Kano, the group noted that the Kano section of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway is about 95 per cent completed. It also inspected projects at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, including a cardiovascular centre, paediatric centre and student hostel.
Other projects visited include a N27 billion irrigation scheme in Garko, ecological fund projects, a solar initiative by the Energy Commission of Nigeria, and a 10-hectare Agricultural Incubation Centre at Bayero University, Kano, designed to promote modern agricultural solutions.
The delegation further toured the headquarters of the North West Development Commission in Kano, as well as a N47 billion erosion control project in the Wujuwuju-Jakara area.
In Jigawa State, the railway project segment was reported to be nearing completion, while in Kebbi State, work on Sections 2A and 2B of the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway is progressing steadily, with completion levels put at 40 per cent and 16 per cent respectively.
The RHA concluded that the scale and spread of projects across the North demonstrate the administration’s commitment to regional development.
“Those alleging that the government has not been fair to the North can verify these projects themselves. The evidence clearly shows that the Tinubu administration has kept faith with the region,” the statement added.
