The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has unveiled a lineup of activities for the 2026 Civil Service Week, marking this year’s African Public Service Day celebration and highlighting the vital role of the Civil Service in Nigeria’s development.
The week-long programme, according to the Mrs. Eno Olotu, Director of Press and Public Relations, on Monday is designed to promote excellence, professionalism, innovation, and citizen-centred service delivery across the Federal Civil Service.
A major highlight of the celebration will be the Mentoring Marketplace, scheduled for Thursday, June 25, at the Rotunda Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja.
The event will serve as a platform to raise awareness about the Federal Public Service Policy and Guidelines on Mentoring recently approved by the Federal Executive Council.
According to the Office of the Head of Service, the initiative is expected to strengthen leadership development, facilitate knowledge transfer, support succession planning, and ensure institutional sustainability within the Federal Civil Service.
Also slated for presentation during the event is the enhanced IPPIS-HR Module Employee Self-Service Application, which introduces new digital features aimed at improving operational efficiency, employee experience, and service delivery across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The day’s activities will culminate in the 2026 Rewards and Recognition Awards Ceremony, where outstanding civil servants will be honoured for exemplary performance, professionalism, dedication to duty, and contributions to ongoing reforms within the service.
As part of the observance, a Special Juma’at Prayer will be held on Friday, June 26, at the National Mosque, Abuja, while a Special Thanksgiving Service is scheduled for Sunday, June 28. The spiritual activities are intended to offer gratitude for achievements recorded over the past year and seek divine guidance for the continued growth and effectiveness of the Civil Service.
The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation reaffirmed its commitment to celebrating the resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions of public servants toward national development and effective governance.
