By Daniel Tyokua

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has vowed to sustain its commitment to delivering affordable housing nationwide, saying it remains focused on its mandate of providing decent homes for Nigerians and reducing the nation’s housing deficit.

Managing Director and chief executive officer of FHA, Mr. Oyetunde Ojo stated this during the groundbreaking ceremony for a 213 -unit housing estate at Wasa in Abuja, on Wednesday

He promised to sustain strategic partnerships with credible private sector developers as part of efforts to accelerate housing delivery and reposition the agency as a more efficient and responsive government institution.

Represented by Executive Director (Estate services) FHA, Mr. Nya-Etok Ezekiel, Ojo said the housing estate being developed in partnership with Greenpasture Homes Limited at City Estate in Wasa, is designed to meet modern housing needs, and provide comfortable, secure, functional and environmentally sustainable homes for residents.

He explained that the development comprises 80 units of two-bedroom flats, 56 units of three-bedroom flats, 35 units of three-bedroom terrace duplexes and 45 units of four-bedroom terrace duplexes.

According to him, the estate aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and would contribute significantly to addressing the country’s housing shortage.

Ojo said that the initiative is beyond providing homes, the project would generate employment opportunities for artisans, engineers, architects, surveyors, suppliers and other professionals, while stimulating economic activities within Wasa and neighbouring communities.

He commended Greenpasture Homes Limited for partnering with FHA, describing the collaboration as a demonstration of the critical role of public-private partnerships in addressing housing challenges.
