Firm to empower more Realtors in 2026, establish more branches across Africa, Europe

From Maurice Okafor, Enugu

The Managing Director of Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd, Architect (Dr.) Chibuikem Onyekachi, has assured that his firm will empower more realtors in Nigeria and West Africa this year.

He said the organization is also working out plans to have it’s presence in some other countries in Africa and Europe.

Dr Onyekachi dropped this hint in a chat with newsmen on his return from Kigali, where he spent his vacation with 20 other Realtors.

He said his vision is to ensure that the real estate investors, realtors, and partners get the best value for their investments, inputs, and efforts.

He disclosed that Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd, in 2025, shared seven cars, 20 generators, 100 iPhone 14 and 12 Pro Max phones, 100 refrigerators, fans, air conditioners, among other items, to realtors who worked hard for the company.

According to him, the gifts are in addition to the huge commission the company pays to both staff and realtors who brought investors to buy its properties.

His words, “What Powell Homes is doing is to transform the real estate business and ensure that hardworking realtors and staff earn according to their efforts.

“We have created a system where every investor gets value for his or her investment, while those who brought them are rewarded for their efforts”.

He added that the company sells properties at affordable rates and provides flexible payment plans that enable people across different income levels to own genuine properties.

Dr Onyekachi explained that the vacation to Kigali enabled the Realtors to reflect on their activities, rest, and observe developments in other parts of the continent. He said that over 100 realtors, partners, and staff of the company will participate in the 2026 vacation, stating it will be a biennial event as a way of appreciating hard working staffs as well as encouraging others to work hard.

He stated, “As you can see, we are coming back from a four-day trip to Kigali where 20 persons were sponsored. They are people who worked harder in 2025 for the company, and we decided to reward their efforts. Some of them were shocked because it was their first time leaving Nigeria. For others, it was their first time boarding an aircraft and travelling outside the country. This is what we intend to expand in 2026 to 100 persons or more. We are amongst the first real estate company to do this in the South East and South South, if not Nigeria, and we hope to do more.

” Those who went to Kigali came from our branches in Enugu, Abuja, Imo, Anambra, Asaba, Umuahia, among others”.

He also stated that the company will strengthen training, mentorship, and professional support for realtors in 2026, equipping them with improved market knowledge, ethical standards, and modern operational tools to help them perform better and grow steadily within the real estate industry.

Mr. Chris Alex who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, said the trip was a strong motivation, a reward that showed the company values hard work, commitment, and growth. He urged other realtors and partners with the company to remain dedicated, productive, and confident that their efforts would always be rewarded.

Dr Onyekachi was optimistic that the establishment of a branch of the company to Kenya, once it’s registration process is completed, will pave way for moving into other African countries.
