President Bola Tinubu has said the infrastructure drive of the Minister of FCT Nyesom Wike is powering Renewed Hope Agenda in the nation’s capital.
He stated this during the inauguration of
Collector Roads 01 and 02 in the Mabushi District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),
on Friday.
Tinubu represented by the vice president Kashim Shettina, described the project as a major step towards improving connectivity, boosting economic activities and enhancing the quality of life of residents.
He said the roads represent more than physical infrastructure, which he would open up new opportunities for businesses and residents by reducing travel time and easing traffic congestion.
Tinubu noted that for years, residents of the area had endured severe traffic bottlenecks, unnecessary detours and prolonged commuting hours, but expressed confidence that the newly completed roads would significantly improve movement within Mabushi and other parts of the capital city.
According to the President, improved road connectivity is central to his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, as efficient transportation directly translates into increased productivity, economic growth and improved public safety.
He described infrastructure as the backbone of a modern economy, saying roads serve as the veins of commerce, bridges of unity and channels through which citizens pursue their dreams without fear or delay.
“We are not just opening two roads. We are opening up Abuja. We are connecting people to opportunity and cutting hours of waste from daily life.
“These collector roads create new, seamless links that ease flow across Mabushi, from the bus terminal and into the wider FCT.
“When roads connect, businesses grow. When movement is easy, productivity rises. When travel is safe, citizens are free. That is the Renewed Hope Agenda at work” Tinubu said.
In his remarks, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, commended President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and unwavering support for the rapid transformation of the nation’s capital, saying the administration’s infrastructure drive is delivering tangible benefits across the city centre and satellite towns.
He said the projects were being executed in line with President Tinubu’s directive that every district in the Federal Capital Territory should experience the impact of his administration.
According to the minister, the administration has already commissioned major infrastructure in districts including Katampe and the Jahi-Gwarimpa interchange, adding that by the end of the commissioning exercise, virtually every district in the FCT would have benefited from one project or another.
Wike also announced that the next phase of the commissioning would move to satellite towns, with roads in Kwali Area Council scheduled for inauguration on Monday.
He attributed the visible transformation of the FCT to Tinubu’s focused and courageous leadership, noting that the President had consistently approved requests and provided the necessary support for project execution.
“When you have courageous, focused and result-oriented leadership, those working under such leadership have no choice but to deliver. We have not complained because whenever we approach Mr. President with requests, he grants them.
“Look at this road and the houses springing up around it. Without this road, these developments would not have happened. Roads stimulate infrastructure and attract investment,” he said.
