The Bauchi state police command has launched investigation into the death of 20-years-old Abdullahi Adamu, in Misau LGA, of the state.
This was contained in a statement issued by its spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib.
It said that the command’s attention was drawn to a report on social media alleging that operatives assaulted the victim who was being interrogated over a case under investigation at a police post, in Misau LGA.
According to the statement, it was further alleged that the victim, of Sebore village, Hardawa district, was admitted at the federal medical centre (FMC), Misau and later referred to ATBUTH, Bauchi, for further treatment, where he was confirmed dead while receiving treatment on Sunday.
“The CP, Mr Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The command assures of justice being served, with appropriate disciplinary and legal actions to be taken against any personnel found culpable,” the statement said.
The command extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for the repose of his soul.
It called on those with useful information that would assist in the investigation to intimate the command.
