Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), has dismissed reports alleging that he resigned from office, describing the claims as false and expressing surprise over their origin.
General Musa made the clarification while speaking with State House correspondents after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The Defence Minister said he had never contemplated or discussed resigning from office, attributing the rumours to individuals dissatisfied with the progress being made in tackling the country’s security challenges.
“I’m not going anywhere. I have never discussed it. I don’t even know who the person who brought that information is. But whoever it is will face legal action,” he said.
General Musa disclosed that he had just briefed President Tinubu on the current security situation across the country, adding that the President expressed satisfaction with the progress being made by the security agencies.
He thanked Nigerians for their continued support and called for a whole-of-society approach in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminality.
The Defence Minister said the cooperation of citizens has contributed significantly to the improvements being recorded in the nation’s security landscape. He assured Nigerians that the military and other security agencies would continue to intensify efforts to defeat terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements operating across the country.
