The D’CEM Awards (Distinguished Creative Empowerment Merit Awards) has continued to gain international recognition as a platform celebrating excellence across entertainment, public service, business, humanitarian work, and community leadership, with more than 1,200 distinguished personalities honored since its inception.
The awards have recognized outstanding individuals from Africa, the United States, Europe, and other parts of the world whose achievements have significantly impacted their professions and communities.
Among the past recipients are some of Nollywood’s most respected actors and filmmakers, including Charles Inojie, AY Makun, Ejike Asiegbu, Norbert Young, Gloria Young, Regina Askia, Robert Peters, Ebere Okaro, Ngozi Ezeonu, Stella Damasus, Clarion Chukwurah, Joseph Benjamin, Daniel K. Daniel, Prince Eke, Anita Joseph, Gbenro Ajibade, Daniel Lloyd, Denrele Edun, Funsho Adeolu, Emma Odele, Florence Onuma, and many other industry veterans.
The awards have also honored prominent government officials and political leaders, including former Abia State Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed, South Fulton Mayor Carmalitha Gumbs, Norcross Mayor Craig Newton, Dallas, Georgia Mayor James Kelly, Newark Deputy Mayor Ugochukwu Nwokoro, and Georgia Governor’s Representative Sebastian Barron.
International figures recognized by the organization include celebrated civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump, Dr. Khalilah Camacho-Ali, Mamadou Saliou Diallo, President of the Guinean Community of America (GUICO-HY), Ambassador Waleed Shamsid-Deen, Hon. (Dr.) Cosmos Ndukwe, Prof. Emeritus Augustine O. Esogbue, Prof. Femi Ajayi, Prof. Lloyd C. Onyirimba, Hon. Mrs. Rosemarie Sesay Osuji, and several humanitarian and academic leaders.
The music industry has also featured prominently among D’CEM honorees, with artists and executives such as Flavour, Mr. Raw, Wizboyy, Omawumi, Samklef, Tony One Week, Big A Entertainment, Joey Oscar, Mr. Olu Maintain, Dayo Adeneye (D1), DJ Karlifornia, DJ Manny, DJ Face, and other influential entertainers receiving recognition for their contributions.
Comedy icons including AY Makun, Klint Da Drunk, Helen Paul, Elenu, Larry Foreman, MC PC, Rod Minger, Kiana Dancie, Erica Duchess, and Raheem Holt have likewise been celebrated for their impact on the entertainment industry.
Hollywood performers and international media personalities honored through the D’CEM Awards include Javon Johnson, Brittany Passion, Schelle Purcell, Kadé Hill, Princess Elmore, Ernesto Santisteban, Omar Soto, Mahogany Raspberry, Mimi Mala, Queen Aftan, and numerous other actors and broadcasters.
The awards have further recognized excellence in sports, business, technology, and entrepreneurship, honoring former Nigerian international footballer Emmanuel Emenike, executives from HYT Phones, and many professionals whose leadership has created lasting social and economic impact.
Organizers say the D’CEM Awards was established to celebrate individuals whose achievements transcend borders while promoting collaboration, cultural exchange, and excellence across diverse industries.
With preparations now underway for the 2026 D’CEM Awards, the organization is expected to welcome another distinguished gathering of global leaders, entertainers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and innovators.
The 2026 D’CEM Awards is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia, where a new class of honorees and award recipients will be recognized for outstanding achievements and contributions to society.
As the awards continue to expand their international reach, organizers say the mission remains focused on recognizing excellence, preserving legacy, and fostering stronger connections among creative professionals and leaders across the world.
