President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has felicitated with Muslims across Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration, urging them to uphold and emulate the virtues and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the President said the celebration should go beyond commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet to provide an opportunity for introspection, prayer and reflection on his exceptional virtues.
Tinubu urged Muslims to make deliberate efforts to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, highlighting devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness as enduring lessons from his life.
“The Muslim faithful should make deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet,” he said.
The President also called on religious leaders to use the occasion to pray for Nigeria and encourage their followers to translate the lessons of the Prophet’s life into greater commitment to the nation.
He urged Muslims celebrating the Maulud festival to extend a hand of fellowship to the needy and vulnerable, stressing the importance of compassion and generosity in the spirit of the season.
Tinubu further called for prayers against insecurity and other challenges confronting parts of the country, urging Nigerians to continue to work and pray for peace, unity and stability.
