Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has pledged to deepen investments in education, accelerate people-oriented projects and consolidate his administration’s development gains as he begins the next phase of his administration.
He made the commitment during his ongoing Thank-You Tour across Buruku, Gboko and Tarka Local Government Areas, where he engaged traditional rulers, religious leaders, political stakeholders, women, youths and other community leaders.
Alia disclosed that following the recruitment of 9,700 primary school teachers, his administration was planning to recruit additional teachers for both primary and secondary schools to address manpower shortages and improve the quality of education in the state.
He said his administration would continue to prioritise projects and programmes with direct impact on the lives of the people, noting that the achievements recorded so far formed part of a broader development agenda for Benue.
The Governor also called for unity among Benue people, urging them to put the collective interest of the state above political differences and work together to promote peace, stability and development.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support to Benue and urged the people to sustain cooperation with the Federal Government to facilitate further development across the state.
At Buruku, the Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Raymond Zege, assured the governor of the people’s continued support and pledged the local government’s backing for his re-election in 2027.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Foreign Affairs, Hon. Alex Adingi, who spoke on behalf of Mbayam, commended the administration’s interventions and appealed for more development projects.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Hon. Aii Yenge, representing the people of Tombo, applauded the governor’s achievements and pledged support for Alia, President Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
At Gboko, Alia held separate engagements with traditional rulers, religious leaders, political leaders and other stakeholders, who commended his administration’s projects and appealed for additional interventions.
The Chairman of Tarka Local Government Council, Hon. Raphael Yenge, welcomed the governor on behalf of the people and expressed appreciation for projects executed across Gboko and Tarka, assuring him of massive support.
Speaking for Gboko and Tarka respectively, Elder Atsenda Ishwa and Elder Iortyer commended the administration’s achievements and legacy projects while calling for more development interventions.
The APC State Women Leader, Hon. Mrs Helen Agaigbe, alongside women and youth leaders from the two areas, assured the governor of their continued support and mobilisation for his re-election.
The APC State Chairman, Hon. Chief Dr Benjamin Omale, thanked the people for their sustained support for the party and Alia administration, urging them to intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Former Governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswam, also urged the people of Jemgbagh to shun political distractions and support Alia’s re-election, describing him as their son and stressing the need for collective effort to ensure his success.
The engagements, attended by political office holders, traditional and religious leaders, women and youth groups and other stakeholders, underscored the governor’s renewed push for grassroots engagement as the Thank-You Tour continues across the state.
