The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has carried out an urgent maintenance operation at the Katampe 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation to seal an oil leakage detected in one of its transformers.
The maintenance exercise, which took place on Saturday, September 5, 2026, was scheduled to run from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
TCN in a statement signed by its Management, said some circuits would be affected during the maintenance period, resulting in temporary disruptions to electricity supply in some areas.
Consequently, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) was unable to receive electricity through some feeders supplied by the affected transformer, impacting customers connected to those feeders.
The transmission company apologised to electricity consumers for the inconvenience caused by the temporary interruption and assured the public that the maintenance was necessary to address the technical issue.
