Ododo’s DG Oricha Celebrates 66th Birthday, Honoured For Service, Compassion

The Director-General, Kogi State Government House Administration, Alhaji Dr. Umar Shuaibu Oricha, has marked his 66th birthday, coinciding with Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

Born on October 1, 1960, Oricha’s birthday celebration has provided an opportunity for colleagues, friends and associates to reflect on his decades of public service, administrative experience and humanitarian gestures.

Oricha, who currently serves as Director-General, Government House Administration, under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, previously held the same position during the administration of former Governor Yahaya Bello.

He has been described as an experienced and resourceful administrator, with a reputation for diligence, humility, integrity and commitment to official responsibilities.

His experience, according to reports, has continued to contribute to the effective coordination of activities within the Government House.

In November 2025, Oricha represented Governor Ododo at a special prayer marking the 10th anniversary of the death of former Kogi State Governor, Prince Abubakar Audu, where he conveyed the governor’s message and participated in the commemoration.

Beyond his official responsibilities, Oricha has also been recognised for his philanthropic activities and concern for the less privileged.

The Kogi State Council of the Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals previously honoured him with a “Compassionate and Philanthropic Gesture Award” for his financial assistance to patients who were unable to pay their medical bills.

Responding to the recognition, Oricha attributed his philanthropic disposition to his upbringing, explaining that his parents were generous and that his personal experience of poverty had strengthened his resolve to assist people in need.

His gestures have also extended to workers who served under him. In one reported instance, he presented vehicles to five drivers and a security officer who had worked with him for several years, describing the gesture as appreciation for their loyalty and service.

The birthday tribute, signed by the State Public Relations Officer, Kogi State Government House and Chairman, Government House Press Crew, Abah Benjamin Eneojoh Treasure, described Oricha as a public servant whose career reflects diligence, compassion and commitment to humanity.

The tribute noted that his continued service under successive administrations demonstrates the value of institutional experience and the ability to work effectively within changing political and administrative environments.

It further described his 66th birthday as a significant milestone, coming on the same day Nigeria marks 66 years of independence, with both occasions symbolising endurance, growth and the passage of time.

The tribute prayed God to grant Oricha continued strength, wisdom, good health and many more years of fruitful service to humanity and Kogi State.

“Happy 66th Birthday, Alhaji Dr. Umar Shuaibu Oricha,” the statement added.
