National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has commended the party’s Intelligence and Security Subcommittee for its early preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing it as one of the most active committees of the Presidential Campaign Council.

Professor Abubakar Kana, who represented Yilwatda at the inauguration of the subcommittee in Abuja on Sunday, praised its members for demonstrating commitment, discipline and organisational capacity even before the campaign council’s directorates began making detailed plans for their operations.

He said the committee had distinguished itself by convening a meeting to organise its activities, describing the initiative as a demonstration of seriousness and dedication to the party’s campaign objectives.

“If I had known that this committee would be as active and serious as this, I would have included myself in it,” Kana said, adding that the members had taken the initiative to organise themselves ahead of the allocation of resources to the campaign directorates.

He commended the committee for its initiative and urged politicians to learn from the discipline, organisation and chain of command associated with security institutions.

According to him, effective coordination and respect for established command structures would be essential not only to the success of the APC’s campaign but also to the effective running of its directorates.

Kana said politicians had much to learn from the security community, particularly in the areas of discipline, operational planning, coordination and adherence to instructions.

He stressed that regimentation and a clear command structure were vital to achieving the party’s objectives, noting that every effective system required leaders to issue directives and members to comply with them.

“Our campaign is about to start, and the election is just a few days from today,” he said, urging the committee to intensify its preparations for the electoral contest.

Kana also recalled the security challenges Nigeria faced before the APC assumed power in 2015, noting that military officers and other security personnel had made significant efforts to preserve the country’s unity and territorial integrity.

He said the party’s commitment to national unity remained consistent with the military’s long-standing position that the unity and progress of Nigeria were non-negotiable.

Reflecting on comments made during the meeting, Kana said the determination to secure victory in the next election had also been described as non-negotiable, expressing confidence in the commitment of the security committee members to the party’s electoral success.
