The immediate past senator of Enugu East senatorial district, Senator Gil Nnaji, has joined the race for the governorship election in the state
Senator Nnaji disclosed that he will buy the governorship nomination forms this week.
It could be recalled that after Senator Ike Ekweremadu confirmed to the media in Enugu that he is in the 2023 Enugu governorship race, Senator Gil Nnaji was the next person to tell a section of the media of his intention.
Responding to enquiries on whether he is really into the race or not, Senator Gil Nnaji disclosed that he will purchase the Enugu state governorship interest and nomination forms this week.
His text message, which responded to the enquiry, simply read, “Yes it is true. I will be picking my form next week (this week).
Senator Nnaji who will be the second aspirant to pick the governorship nomination forms after Senator Ike Ekweremadu is banking seriously on the much canvassed zoning formula favouring Enugu East senatorial district, and particularly the micro zoning effors to favour Enugu East local government area, where he hails from. He is from the late Chief Edward Nnaji royal family of Nike land.
The people of Nike land in their desire to gain the favour of the major political stakeholders from the other five local government areas under Enugu East senatorial district are currently flooding the streets of Enugu metropolis with posters reading, “Enugu 2023-; Kwado Nike”(Meaning support Nike).
