*As he bags Global Leadership and Peace Icon award
*And 6 ex-Corps Members bag Heroes Award

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has again reiterated that without equity, fairness and justice, there will be no peace either in Nigeria or any other part of the world.
Obasanjo made the statement as the Special Guest of Honour at a ceremony, where he also bagged Global Leadership and Peace Icon Award.
The ceremony also saw the Conferment of Heroes Award on six former Corps Members, and some outstanding public office holders.
Those who bagged the Heroes Award included: Omabe Chigozie Simon, Ejikeme Peter Chukwuebuka, Eze Daniel Uchechukwu, Okonkwo Ifeoma Cheta, Okoye Victor Chukwuemeka and Isiaka Mercy Lovely.
Each of them was handed over the sim of N250,000 donated by National Daily Newspaper as well a plaque and a certificate for their outstanding performances during their service year.
These, according to According to the Director, Press and Public Relations, NYSC, Eddy Megwa, the Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brig-Gen. Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed, on behalf of the Scheme received the Most Strategic Government Establishment of the Decade Award.
Speaking, Obasanjo congratulated the recipients for excelling in their different fields of endeavour and harped on the urgency for people occupying Leadership positions to always ensure the enthroned the principles of equity, fairness, justice anf fair play, steessing that those remained the plank on which Nigeria could attain greatness.
Strssing his points, Obasanjo stated that peace, security and stability are the essential basic ingredients for performance, growth, excellence and development.
He equally noted that peace is impossible without “equity, fairness and justice”.
The former Head of State and President remarked that over the years, he has been involved in peace-making assignments and mediation around the world.
He said: “Without justice, equity and fairness, there can be no peace and without peace, security and stability, you would not get performance and also would not be able to manifest excellence”.
The former President tasked leaders at all levels to exhibit good qualities that will enhance their performances and advance peace.
He opined that if the right choice of people occupy leadership positions, there will be good performances that will enable excellent service delivery.
Obasanjo fuether commended Nigerians in the Diaspora who excell in their respective fields on endeavour adding that, “the way you lay your bed is the way you will lie on it.
“The definition of success to me is making a place better than you find it.
“If you are going to be regarded as being successful, you must make things better,” Obasanjo emphasised.
He also challenged the awardees to strive and do more for humanity.
Meanwhile, the Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu, was bestowed with the Innovation and Infrastructure Governor of the Year award, while the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, received Man of The Year award at the event.
The Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive Officer of National Daily, Deacon Sylvester Ebhodaghe, in his welcome remarks, said the recipients were selected based on merit, adding that the award would spur them to make things better for other members of the public.
The award ceremony was held at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos and attended by a retinue of diplomats, captains of industries, business moguls, among other distinguished personalities.
