Why APC Support Groups should maintain global standard in party issues – APC G3

The APC Grassroots Governance Group APC G3 on Monday urged Support Groups in the All Progressives Congress, APC, to maintain global standard in internal party issues.

APC G3 stated this in reaction to a press statement by the ‘Asiwaju Champions Group’ which accused Bisi Akande, former chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of causing havoc in the party.

The group through its Director General, Professor Ahmed Yakubu, on Sunday said Akande is enlisting political renegades in the National Working Committee (NWC), of the ruling party to collect signatures in order to pass a vote of no confidence on Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of APC.

Reacting to the development, APC G3 in a press release signed by the National Coordinator, Amechi Chuks Oyema said Pa Akande and Abdullahi Adamu are both elders that should be respected without clashing their heads.

APC G3 urged Support Groups to rather think of how to build unity in the party rather than bringing internal issues, especially affecting respected elders of the party to the pages of the newspaper.

“Pa Akande is well respected for his role in building the APC and especially his role as the pioneer National Chairman of our great party. His name should not be associated with those that want to cause disaffection in our party. Pa Akande will not contribute to destroy the house he helped build.

“If Pa Akande is close to the President, it shouldn’t be a source of worry to some party members, rather he is going to be giving the President wise counsel, which he is known for right from his days in the UPN.

“Support Groups should maintain global standard in dealing with party issues. Our role is to especially galvanize support for our party at the Grassroots level and where necessary engage in issues that will bring party harmony,” APC G3 added.
